Is a hands-on manipulation of the body tissues using stroking, kneading, or other similar touch for therapeutic purposes. There are dozens of kinds of massage, which differ in ways such as intensity of treatment, types of strokes used, how it is applied, and area of body treated. Generally, however, all forms of massage share several principles:  They,

·Improve circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid

·Stimulate the skin and nerve endings

·Promote release of endorphins

·Enhance overall body functioning and harmony

·Reduce stress, tension and pain

·Increases range of motion and flexibility

·Speed up recovery time from old injuries

·Regulates metabolic function

·Maintains a healthy immune system, as it transports excess proteins, water, and wastes from the connective tissues to the blood stream, improving the flow of lymph and thus helps remove substances from the body tissues that can cause or contribute to disease.

Swedish Massage

Is a therapeutic series of strokes applied to the body to induce relaxation, increase range of motion, remove toxins from the body, enhance recovery from trauma and stress, and promote circulation.

It incorporates several primary strokes, including effleurage (gliding), tapotment (tapping),  vibration (shaking), petrissage (kneading), and friction (rubbing). These strokes are applied with massage oils to help reduce friction and keep the strokes smooth and flowing.

In addition to feeling good, Swedish massage helps relieve stiff joints and pain associated with muscle tension, strains, sprains, and overuse. Swedish massage can also reduce recovery time after surgery and prevent or reduce muscle atrophy in individuals who are inactive because of disease, injury, or age. Many people also report emotional and psychological benefits, increased creativity, and fulfillment of their need for nurturing.

Deep-Tissue Bodywork

Is a general term for a type of bodywork in which the deep layers of the muscle and connective tissue are manipulated down to the bone.

All forms of deep tissue massage share several characteristics. Unlike full-body massage techniques, deep tissue massage focuses on releasing tension in a specific area of the body. In order to be effective,  the practitioner will relax each layer of muscle as they work down the bone. This usually involves use of elbows and thumbs as well as fingers. All of these techniques allow deep tissue massage to relieve chronic muscular pain, reduce pain associated with arthritis and tendonitis, and help remove toxins and other waste materials from the muscles and surrounding tissues.
