“A therapist helps fill up the jug,
but the patient must put a lid on it”.
Harry Oldfield
It is advised to drink plenty of water to assist in flushing out excess toxins that had been released during any therapy session. Avoid Soda pop, concentrated juices, or any fluids containing sugars. It is best to drink 8 tall glasses of mineral water per day. Water that lacks minerals, may cause fatigue.
Eat light foods such as fruits or vegetables for the first day or two after your session.
Get plenty of rest for the first day and that night after treatment, so your body may continues to mend itself. Stress levels decrease tremendously during sleep.
It is quite common to feel sore after a massage session, especially if it is your first. There are two reasons to this:
1- Massage lengthens tissues, much like if you were to perform stretching exercises. However, the massage will work on other muscles that we cannot always stretch ourselves. The type of pain felt is similar to after you begin exercising because muscles you normally do not use are also being worked out.
2- Toxins have been broken down and eliminated within the muscle fibers. The break down process continues within the next 3 days after the massage. This is why drinking plenty of good water is important to help properly eliminate and avoid the toxins from re-entering the tissues.
